Senior Partner

Benny has more than three decades of experience in land law, banking, and relations with government institutions. He has extensive experience handling a wide range of land-related legal matters, including plantation licensing, Hak Guna Usaha (HGU) certification and renewal processes, both for corporate clients and in connection with banking assets and debtors.

Benny had a career at PT Bank Duta Tbk. as a Legal Officer (1988 - 1998). He subsequently joined the Indonesian Bank Restructuring Agency (IBRA), also known as Badan Penyehatan Perbankan Nasional (BPPN), where he last served as Legal Manager (1998 - 2003). Benny holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the Faculty of Law, Atmajaya University, Yogyakarta. He has extensive experience in plantation licensing, HGU certification, and HGU renewal for various companies, including PT London Sumatera Indonesia Tbk, Lyman Group, Dancom Telecommunication (M) SDN BHD, Mewaholeo Industries SDN. BHD., PT Podomoro Group, PT Bangungraha Manunggal, LIPPO Group, PT Nala Vini Eka, Sinar Mas Group, PT Bumi Perkasa Permai, Modern Group, PT Andalan Putra Persada, Bukit Jonggol Asri, PT Barata Indonesia, BPIS-BPPT, PT Hotel Aryaduta, LIPPO Group, and PT Bulungan Citra Agro Persada.

Since 2021, Benny has served as a Senior Partner at RIVAI & RIVAI Law Firm, following his experience as an Associate Partner at RIVAI & Co Law (2004 - 2010) and Partner at BMW Law Firm (2011 - 2021). His areas of practice include banking law, land law, plantation matters, asset management and resolution, as well as institutional relations with government authorities.
