Advocate, Legal Consultant and Curator, graduated from the Faculty of Law, University of Indonesia in 1989 and also obtained a Master of Management degree in 1998, started his career in banking as a banker at PT Bank Duta Tbk for 10 years (1990 - 2000).

Rivai established a law office since April 2000 and Immediately became a Capital Market Legal Consultant in the same year after completing his education at the Financial Management and Accounting Institute (LMKA) of the Indonesian Ministry of Finance and then registered with the Capital Market Supervisory Agency (BAPEPAM LK) now the Financial Services Authority (OJK).

He handled various corporate actions up until 2018. Building on his 10 years of experience as a banker, he then focused on managing debt restructuring cases from both the creditor and debtor perspectives after being officially appointed as Administrator and Receiver by the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia in 2011.

Several PKPU (Suspension of Debt Payment Obligations) and Bankruptcy cases have been successfully managed under his leadership. Notably, in the case of PT Hotel Panghegar Bandung (now EL Hotel), he served as both Administrator and Receiver, achieving a 100% recovery rate, with all obligations of the hotel paid in full to all creditors—preferential, secured, and unsecured. This level of success is considered a first of its kind in Indonesia.
